Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Open the app and enter your email address. We'll send you a 6-digit code to verify it — no password required. Enter the code and you're in.

How do I connect to a VPN server?

From the main screen, tap the large connect button. The app will automatically choose the fastest server for you, or you can pick a specific country from the server list.

The first time I connect, iOS asks for permission. Why?

iOS requires explicit user consent before any app can add a VPN configuration. This is a one-time prompt. After you approve, future connections happen silently with a single tap.

Connectivity

The VPN won't connect. What should I do?

  • Check that your device has an active internet connection.
  • Try a different server from the list — the one you selected may be temporarily under maintenance.
  • Toggle Airplane Mode on and off, or switch between Wi-Fi and cellular.
  • Restart the app. If the problem persists, restart your device.
  • If none of the above works, email support@vpndan.com with your device model, iOS version, and which server you tried.

My connection is slow. How can I improve speed?

  • Choose a server geographically close to you — distance directly affects latency and throughput.
  • Check the latency indicator next to each server in the list and pick the one with the lowest ping.
  • VPN speeds are always slower than your raw connection due to encryption overhead. With WireGuard, the overhead is minimal (typically 5–10%), but it's never zero.

Does VPN Dan work with my carrier / on cellular?

Yes. VPN Dan works over Wi-Fi, 4G, and 5G. Some restrictive networks (corporate Wi-Fi, certain countries) may block VPN traffic — if you encounter this, the obfuscation built into our protocol stack (AmneziaWG) helps in most cases.

Privacy & Security

Does VPN Dan log my activity?

No. We do not log browsing history, DNS queries, traffic data, destination IP addresses, or any payload. The only data tied to your account is your email (for login), your device name (so you can manage which devices are connected), and the active WireGuard cryptographic keys required to route your tunnel. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown.

What encryption does VPN Dan use?

VPN Dan uses WireGuard with ChaCha20 for symmetric encryption, Poly1305 for authentication, Curve25519 for key exchange, and BLAKE2s for hashing — modern, audited cryptography.

Do you share data with third parties?

No. We do not sell, trade, or transfer user data to anyone. We use no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking frameworks. The only external service we communicate with is our transactional email provider (used solely to deliver your one-time login code).

Account & Billing

How do I delete my account?

Open the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your email, device records, and active VPN peer configuration from our servers. The action cannot be undone.

I'm not receiving the login code email.

  • Check your spam / junk folder.
  • Make sure you entered your email correctly — the "Resend Code" button on the verification screen will let you try again.
  • Wait 60 seconds — some providers (especially corporate inboxes) delay delivery.
  • If it still doesn't arrive, email support@vpndan.com.

Devices

Can I use VPN Dan on multiple devices?

Yes. You can sign in on multiple devices with the same account, and each device can be connected simultaneously to the same or different servers.

Which platforms are supported?

VPN Dan is available for iOS 17 and later, and macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later on Apple Silicon Macs.
